Oh yay! Thanks a lot for doing this one.
That mom with the kids there, WTF?

’shared community values’? Holy frak, I can’t believe someone would actually say that. Jeezits.
I think the group signings would be much less terrifying!
Oh, ick on the creepy dudes!
Thanks so much guys for giving us a peek into that intimidating part of being a published author!
I’ve gone to a couple booksignings. The first one I went to, they had the author sitting at a table right by the front door and she was standing there grabbing people as they were coming in to talk to them about her books. I was sorta surprised about that because I really would have thought they’d have had the table in the romance section and not right there at the door they way they did. I felt awful for her because I overheard several people tell her “oh, I don’t read those books” when she was telling them about her books. I ended up buying 3 copies of each of her books for me and my sisters just so she can say she had sold *something* at the signing and it wasn’t all negative, you know?
Who would bring small children to an author reading like this? Find a babysistter. And these people at the bookstore who have a comments on the subject matter should keep their mouths shut. I’m not interested on what books I should be reading. Just keep the shevles stocked with what the customers want.

by Mad March 14th, 2009 at 7:00 pm@ Nancy – over time you develop special spidey senses about creeps and you learn all these ways to diffuse the icky stuff about 85% of the time.
@ Mad – awww, I bet she really appreciated it too!
