Ooh, I so want to read Carrie Ryan’s The Forest of Hands and Teeth! Been on my Wishlist for a long time…
I think there are people out there who want to be ‘writers’ but they don’t want to do the actual work of writing. They think it’s this magical thing where you just sit in your bath robe and day dream for eight hours a day or whatever and the words just magically appear and then boom! your famous and rolling in dough.
While I do usually work in my robe (hence my myspace url ‘workinmypj’s’ that’s as close as the fantasy comes to reality right now.
There are days where I wish I could just clap my hands and the words appear magically on a page without me having to actually sit down and type them, but there are also days when the words flow like music and what makes a writer in my opinion is someone who regardless of what kind of day it is, they sit their butts down and write.
As for the goals, I think I have my own internal mocking finger of doom because I’m promoting my novella that’s coming out November 21st but at the same time, I have a WIP that’s done but that I want to polish and submit by the end of this year and everytime I’m working on something other than that WIP I have the specter of it hanging over me like ’shame on you!’

by Nancy November 4th, 2008 at 4:45 pmI know that I do not have what it takes to be a writer and I am very impressed and thankful for those of you that do!!
Megan~I think that you definitely more famous than some of the people who have been on Dancing with the Stars.
