So in Outshined, my next book for Berkley, my heroine is a bass player and a songwriter. I love music and I love musicians but not everyone is the lead singer, not everyone plays lead guitar. The bass player lays down the beat, from funky to rocking. I like to think of Erin (my heroine) as similar to Jeff Ament from Pearl Jam with inspired moments of Less Claypool of Primus and maybe even some hard core action like Cliff Burton from Metallica – last but never least – The Ox – John Entwistle of The Who
Jeff Ament and Pearl Jam do the Who
Primus and Les Claypool
Cliff Burton (RIP) – For Whom The Bell Tolls – Metallica
Entwistle solo

What actress and actor come to mind when you’re thinking of Erin and Todd?

by Jolie Kade August 3rd, 2008 at 7:52 pm@ Mad – Todd feels like Josh Lucas in some aspects with a bit of Dylan McDermott – he’s big and brawny but has a bit of Boy Next Door about him.
With Erin – it’s funny but I rarely think about my heroines the way I do my heroes. In the beginning of the book it’s ten years ago and she’s got dredlocks and a pierced eyebrow. Sort of like Ani DiFranco. But then when we move to the present she’s got longer hair, no dreds but it’s pink. She’s tall and pretty but not stunningly so. Big tattoo on her back – the tree of life and it goes around to her belly.
